A hot July wedding for Lucinda and Stephen

It was going to be another hot day, so I put on my lightweight suit and packed an iced drink into my camera bag. The bride's parents out a farmhouse out in the wilds in Derbyshire so that was where I was off too. I found Lucinda there getting ready with her four bridesmaids and five flower girls. Her Mum and Dad were floating around. 

Jodie Ann Needham was doing an excellent job of make-up, she had colour palettes, brushes and all sorts of paraphernalia all over the kitchen table. Claire Shaw from Hair Flair was taking care of the hair. The girls wanted a few crazy photos in their Japanese style dressing gowns before getting dresses. The bride's dress was amazing; a traditional white with an enormous cathedral veil. Lucinda told me she went over to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to choose it from David's Bridal.

I left the home just as the flowers were arriving. Then an immaculate, vintage white Rolls Royce from Cupid Carriages arrived to take the bride and her father off to Rossington Hall.

Rossington Hall is a magnificent venue between Doncaster and Bawtry with immense gardens and view of open countryside. It had once been used as a school but now it is under renovation still and being used as a hotel and for hosting events. Michele got there well before me to photograph the chaps. Stephen had his father, best man and four groomsmen all dressed in blue suits from Tickled Pink with gold accessories. They looked very dapper and I am sure Lucinda would be impressed.

It wasn't long before the bridesmaids with mum arrived followed by the bride with her father.

The ceremony went well in the large ballroom that had been beautifully dressed. The Northern String Quartet played before and after the vows - really lovely. Following the ceremony the newly weds went off to a sitting room to have a few moments to themselves whilst the guests were escorted through the grand library out into an Italian style garden to wait to greet them.

They were all armed with flower petals ready to shower the lovely couple. So plenty of petals, cheering and a few kisses and lots of laughs were followed by canapes and drinks on silver platters. The musicians followed us out and entertained the guests on the front patio. We got photos all over the grounds! The couple and all of their guests were all so pleasant and so amenable. Even the peacocks posed for a few photos.

All the guests enjoyed the wedding breakfast and the speeches went well. This was all followed by the cake cutting. The cake was a huge five tier in shades of pink and gold, created by Cherryblossom.

Then it wasn't long before the guests were all outdoors again enjoying the balmy evening weather. And naturally there were plenty more photos to be taken!

The ballroom was turned around quickly for the evening reception. The staff at Rossington Hall work so hard and do a fantastic job. Nothing is too much trouble and they aim for perfection.

I asked Lucinda how Stephen had proposed whilst he was out of earshot. It was very romantic. They were having a candle lit dinner whilst on holiday in Bali, overlooking a rain forest , when he suddenly did the right thing and produced a sparkly ring! The answer must have been yes of course or we would not be here now!

Finally the evening ended with a first dance to open the dance floor followed by a lot more dancing to a good selection of tunes from the resident DJ.
